As we get ready for Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday – don’t forget about the most impactful day of all: GivingTuesday.
This year, GivingTuesday will be on Tuesday, November 28 and in their own words, GivingTuesday is a “Movement that Unleashes the Power of Radical Generosity Around the World”.
What is your plan on this day of giving? You can give your time, your money, give back to your community, pay it forward at Dunkin’ Donuts or Bittersweet Bistro; there are so many options! Or you can help support our Community Reader’s Program.
This year on GivingTuesday, the Killingworth Women’s Organization (KWO) is giving their time by hosting a Community Reader’s Program at Killingworth Elementary School (KES). Each classroom will be joined by a volunteer reader to share a story and the children will be able to dress up as their favorite book characters for donation to a new fund.
KWO is starting a new fund to raise money for the purchase of books to support teachers, libraries, and children in Killingworth.
Did you know many of our local teachers spend their own money on classroom supplies and books?
Did you know the KES librarian hosts a book club before school starts for 2nd and 3rd graders giving her own time?
We need to continue to support our youth in literacy and love of books so we’re asking the entire town to chip in and see if we can raise money where 100% of the proceeds go to this new fund.
This is your chance to make an impact for GivingTuesday to support our local community. Donate whatever amount you’re able today.
Thank you and be sure to do something; not matter how big or small for GivingTuesday.
