In light of Veteran’s Day, the KWO is orchestrating a town-wide collection of items needed for Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes – Connecticut’s first and only community-based transitional home exclusively for homeless female Veterans and their young children.
Located in Bridgeport, Female Soldiers is a part of the Homes for the Brave program, and helps female Veterans by meeting their needs for a safe, secure home, adequate food, and by empowering residents to move forward with their long-term goals: obtaining permanent housing, achieving financial stability, and working toward greater self-determination.
Items currently in need are:
- Twin comforters
- Toiletries (mostly body wash and body spray)
Folks can drop off donations through November 8 at The Killingworth Family Pharmacy, Bittersweet Bistro, and The Barrelhouse. Any items purchased at the Pharmacy for the Veterans will be given a 20% discount.
